Quantum Materials

Professor Erik Henriksen’s research group focuses on  understanding fundamental correlated electronic and magnetic physics in atomically thin crystals of graphene and other layered quantum materials.

Research in the Henriksen lab is centered on understanding fundamental correlated electronic and magnetic physics in atomically-thin crystals of graphene and other layered quantum materials. We study the individual two-dimensional materials and combine them into custom vertically-stacked heterostructures to engineer novel physical phenomena.

Our current interests include:

  • ultra-low-disorder graphene
  • quantum spin liquid states in RuCl3
  • electronic transport in artificial lattices
  • quantum materials for dark matter detection
